Our time is running out

So, it’s been a few weeks since my last update. In all fairness the majority of people who read this will probably know pretty much where I am with my ‘plans’ at present. Let’s be honest, the whole point of this page is for when i’m away from home; not for when i’m slightly restless on my sofa, supping a third Savanna dry cider after a terrible round of golf.

For those that aren’t aware, here is the current status –

1 – I’ve now spent into four figures on my flights. This includes a bargain Emirates flight from Gatwick-Bangkok on October 3rd and a return with the same carrier on April 6th from Delhi-Heathrow. I’ve also booked my flights for the Australian leg of the trip, which of course coincides with the Ashes.

2 – Ashes tickets are in the hands of my mate, Roberto, who is currently working in Australia. He is the man as far as I am concerned for getting me and Union Dave tickets for the series down under.

3 – My itinerary from October to January is pretty much decided. Ten days in Southern Thailand, onto Cambodia with Fred, my brother in law for a further ten days before taking a flight back to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. From here it will be a quick jaunt up the west coast of Malaysia before a hop over to the Malaysian part of Borneo. After kicking round here for an undecided period of time it will be back to Singapore where I will meet up with Basingstoke Pat. A cheeky ferry ride over to Indonesia will eventually see us end up in Bali for a flight to Brisbane on the 23rd November.

4 – If anyone has any idea of cheap digs in Sydney over the New Year period, give me a shout. I’m good at this tour operator role after sorting out 5 or 6 cricket trips in the past, but Sydney has left me stumped. £35 a night for a bed in an 8 bed dorm – er, no thanks. I’ll take my chances on pulling a local Aussie girl for the 9 nights I plan to be there!

Apart from that, other news includes me ignoring the need to start saving some beer token money (those in Barnsley for the womans ODI the other week will know the feeling of open wallet surgery) plus the time ticking by before the need to put flat contents in storage and the switch over of direct debits…..I know, this packing your bags and quitting your job (for 6 months) isn’t all excitement and dreams of far flung destinations.

In the mean time, the Savanna is running low and I need to go to bed.

Time is running out before take off and I can’t wait…..
